Frequently asked questions

Below are some of our most commonly asked questions. Can't find the answer to your question? give us a call or drop us an email and we will be happy to help.

Q: If I send a photo of my tree, can you give me a quotation based on the picture?

A: Sorry, but we are unable to provide a quote from a photo.

Many factors need to be taken into account when providing a quotation. For example: The health of the tree, access to the site, and any obstructions.

Therefore, an appointment is required to assess the tree, the site and carry out a risk assessment.

If you would like us to provide a quote, please give us a call on: 07521783580, drop us an email at: admin@branchingout-iow.co.uk or send us a message using the chat box located to the right of this page.

Q: Do you provide an emergency call-out service?

A: Yes we do! Our office opening hours are 8 am-6 pm, Monday-Saturday. Outside of these hours, we operate an emergency 24-hour call-out service.

Please note, in very busy periods we may not be able to answer the phone immediately (during a storm etc). Please leave an answer phone message with contact information and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Q: Can you give me a rough price to work on my tree?

A: This is a question we get asked a lot and the short answer is no.

The price can vary widely and is dependent on many factors. For example, a tree in a field with no obstructions will only require a straight fell. This would be carried out by two tree surgeons and the only machinery needed would be a chipper and chainsaws.

On the other hand, A large tree, in a small garden, with many obstructions will require at least two qualified climbers dismantling the tree in small sections, possibly using rigging (this is a much more lengthy process than a straight fell). In addition to at least one grounds person, a chipper, chainsaws and rigging kit.

These are just two examples. Some jobs will also require extra machinery.

Q: Do you take away the woodchip and logs at the end of the job, or can I keep them?

A: Yes you are welcome to keep logs and woodchip. This is something we will discuss with you on the initial visit.

If you are looking for woodchip, we deliver woodchip by the van load free of charge. We also offer bulk bags of split logs for £80 each.

Check out the services section of the website for more information.

Q:  I have a tree that is subject to a Tree Preservation Order (TPO), can you work on it?

A: The answer to this question is, in most cases, no. Although there are some exceptions.

Trees are an important part of our environment. They provide food and shelter for wildlife, reduce pollution, add visual interest to the landscape and even be of significant historical interest. It is, therefore, vital that they have some protection. Trees with a TPO are protected by law from being cut or destroyed.

Consent must be sought from the local authority prior to the work being carried out on any protected trees, unless there is an immediate risk of serious harm. Don't panic though, we will do this for you.

If you have a tree that is subject to a TPO and would like some advice, we would be happy to help.

Q: I would like to see evidence of insurance, is that possible?

A: Yes of course! Both our public liability and employers liability insurance are provided by Arborisk.

Liam is happy to provide a copy of the certificate showing the details of both, just ask.
